Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) provides a full range of care and services all within one campus, allowing residents to remain in the same community as their needs evolve over time. This continuum of care ensures that each resident receives the appropriate level of support, whether they are living independently or require more specialized attention, all while remaining connected to the people, lifestyle, and surroundings they know and love. At The Highlands at Wyomissing, residents have access to a comprehensive spectrum of care options, including Independent Living, Personal Care, Memory Support, Assisted Living (24/7 nursing care), and Short-Term Rehabilitation. This seamless progression of care provides peace of mind, knowing that once you become part of The Highlands community, you will be supported for life.

The Highlands’ waiting list, known as the Future Resident Club, is designed for individuals who plan to make The Highlands their home in the future. We encourage prospective residents to join as early as possible, as wait times for certain apartment styles or villas can be lengthy. A $1,500 fully refundable deposit secures your place on the list. This amount is later applied toward your entrance fee at the time of move-in or refunded in full should your plans change. Becoming a member of the Future Resident Club not only provides peace of mind knowing you have a plan in place for the future, but also gives you the opportunity to experience life at The Highlands before officially moving in. Future Residents are welcome to participate in campus activities and events, dine in our restaurants, and enjoy access to amenities such as the fitness center, indoor pool, and walking trails. Joining the Future Resident Club is the perfect way to plan ahead while starting to enjoy The Highlands lifestyle today.

Planning for future health care before you need it is one of the most important steps you can take for your well-being, independence, and peace of mind. Life can be unpredictable. A sudden illness, injury, or diagnosis can change your situation overnight. Having a plan in place while you are healthy means you can transition smoothly into independent living without rushing or making stressful, emotional decisions under pressure. Many prospective residents are not aware that there is a medical qualification requirement for residency, particularly under the Type A (Lifecare) contract. This makes planning ahead, before a need for care arises, even more important. When you plan ahead, you get to choose where you live, the type of care you prefer, and how you want to be supported if your health changes. This ensures your wishes are respected and reduces the burden on your loved ones later. Planning early also allows you to understand your options and budget accordingly. Long-term care costs can be significant, but by preparing now through long-term care insurance, savings, and/or a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) plan, you can protect your assets and avoid unexpected financial strain later. When your future health care is planned, you can live with confidence knowing you’re prepared for whatever comes next.
