At The Highlands at Wyomissing®, we are committed to enhancing the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory challenges.
Health Services
Aspire Memory Support at The Highlands of Wyomissing® provides life-enriching memory support and care for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia. Our model is centered around a core belief that everyone deserves a life worth living, so we make it our mission to provide residents with a meaningful, purposeful and personalized lifestyle. Support and care for those living with memory impairment are provided in a state-of-the art neighborhood with a biophilic design, meaning our building is specifically designed to increase residents’ connectivity to the natural environment using direct nature, indirect nature, and space and place conditions.
Memory Support services feature the Hearthstone Institute’s world-renowned I’m Still Here® approach to Memory Support.
Evidence-Based APPROACH
I’m Still Here® is based on the belief that every person living with dementia can experience a high quality of life regardless of the severity of their memory loss. Featuring a person-centered approach, specialized communication, activities that encourage personal choice and techniques that support learning, I’m Still Here® offers a message of hope. It’s a proven philosophy that emphasizes purposeful engagement. When residents are involved in activities that are meaningful and interesting to them, behaviors such as the 4A’s of Alzheimer’s – Agitation, Anxiety, Aggression, and Apathy – are reduced.
I'm Still Here® ensures that unique interests and skills are incorporated into each person’s day so that experiences are meaningful and fulfilling. Most importantly, I’m Still Here® celebrates the person who is always present, even as the disease progresses.

Residents are given space to sing, dance, and live a full life with activities that not just nurture but also leave room for reminiscing.
The Activities Program strives to stimulate and retain the cognitive abilities that our residents still have. To do so, we utilize trivia, word games, basic math puzzles, reminiscing, and reading circles.
The IN2L (It’s Never 2 Late) computer system is designed for individuals who have dementia. The system features a wide variety of apps that offer cognitive stimulation, relaxation techniques, exercise, reminiscing and just plain fun. Our mobile system offers capabilities for group, 1 to 1 and in room use of the system.
It is proven that music is very powerful when working with individuals who have dementia. Embracing this ideology, we offer a variety of music programs developed to be cognitively stimulating, emotionally soothing and capable of touching the deepest memories of the individual. Some of these programs include singalongs, music therapy visits, rhythm circles, and Music Bingo.
Art Therapy involves creative expression through painting, drawing, or sculpting to stimulate memory and emotional wellbeing. It offers residents a fulfilling way to enhance their self-esteem and connect with their emotions.
